Other Services Offered by the Consular Office

(A) Authentication of Documents

U. S. Department of State’s Authentication office must authenticate all documents issued in the U.S. (Please note that the U.S department of state requires that all the documents must be authenticated by the state in which the document was issued.)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation of South Sudan, must authenticate all documents issued by Government of the Republic of South Sudan. Hence, the Embassy cannot authenticate any document that is not already authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation.

All documents issued by countries other than Republic of South Sudan and U.S must be authenticated by the U.S state department;

The Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan will authenticate all original documents in order to be used in South Sudan. Plus, the applicant must provide the Embassy with original documents authenticated by the U.S department of state.

Authentication Fees & payment method: General Authentication fee is $30.00 USDCommercial Authentication fee is $600.00. Payment must be in form of money order, cashier or company certified check, payable to the Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan.

Applicants mailing their application must provide a prepaid return envelope with a tracking number, please use (FEDEX, UPS or EXPRESS MAIL)

Authentication of documents will require a minimum of three (3) business days.

(B) Letters of No objection

To request a No Objection Letter in the event of shipping the body of the deceased:

Fax or mail copy of death certificate;
Fax or mail a copy of letter from the funeral home;
Fax or mail a copy of deceased passport, travel document or green card;
Fax or mail a copy of letter from the deceased family stating that the decease body be shipped back to South Sudan;

If all the requirements are faxed or mailed, the Embassy will issued notarized no objection letter.

If you are mailing the documents to the Embassy, please include a self-addressed envelope with sufficient pre-paid return postage.

The processing time is within the same business day
*Note that there is no fee associated with this service.

(C) Translation of Documents

Translation of birth & assessment of Age Certificates: Will be translated from Arabic into English, provided that the document is already authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation in Juba – South Sudan. A copy of identification card, passport, etc. will be required, and the processing Fee is $30.00 USD only.

Translation of Marriage Certificates / Licenses: Will be translated from Arabic into English, provided that the document is already authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation in Juba – South Sudan. A copy of identification card, passport, etc. will be required, and the processing Fee is $30.00 USD only.

Translation of Divorce Certificate / License: Will be translated from Arabic into English, provided that the document is already authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation in Juba – South Sudan. A copy of identification card, passport, etc. will be required, and the processing Fee is $30.00 USD only.

Translation of South Sudan Original Driver’s License: The original is required, and will be returned with the translated certificate, and the processing Fees is $30.00 USD only.

(D) Registration of birth of a Child to South Sudanese parents in USA or Canada

Upon provision of a copy of your child’s birth certificate, authenticated by the US Department of State, together with photos of the child and copies of the passports of the parents, the Embassy will be happy to register the birth of your child abroad, and process your request for your child to be issued with South Sudan nationality certificate & South Sudan passport. A new born South Sudanese child may be issued with an emergency travel document to return to South Sudan.

(E) Interviewing & Issuance of Travel Documents for Purposes of Deportation of South Sudanese

Effective from 6th May 2015 and until such time in the future when South Sudan has formulated a comprehensive policy on welcoming undocumented ex-prisoners deportees from USA/Canada, incorporating systems and guidelines for their reception, rehabilitation, resettlement, and safe reintegration into local communities in South Sudan, and after having examined the situation further and entered into mutually agreed legal arrangements with relevant entities in USA and Canada, the Government of the Republic of South Sudan has temporarily suspend reception of former prisoners/inmates deportees from USA, Canada, and other countries. This decision applies to all South Sudanese who have no legal identification documents of the Republic of South Sudan (i.e. undocumented in accordance with South Sudan laws), and were residing or resettled / refugees in USA or Canada.
